CHAMPION

        He is a champion.

                 The beginnings

              ---------------------------------------

In southern part of the country, particularly in the rural areas, I still see the people bound to their culture and may be because of the lack of facilities in their villages and the reluctance of the parents, to send their children to towns for studies, most of these children study with the medium of instruction , the regional language belonging to their state.

This Champion of our tale went through such situations and pursued his school studies in local schools, pursuing the state board syllabus with the regional language as the medium of instruction.

All though, the boy scored well, in his class 12, he has this problem of Language. There are no institutes or individuals who can offer coaching for competitive exams in the regional language, and the boy had to join in the institutes, where, lecturers come from different other parts of the country and would teach their lessons in English medium.

He has to cross two hurdles. One, the Language and the other improve the subject knowledge, so as to match the requirement of Medical entrance exam.

He took the short term course like all other students, on completion of class 12.It is this period,  I noticed the dark complexion boy with sharp eyes, always biting his nails, may be the habit developed due to the nervous situation he is in, used to make his presence felt asking wonderful logical questions ,with cautiously woven sentences in English.

I understood he was clever enough to cope up with the task and it was only a matter of time that he had to prove his ability.

He couldn't score well in the crash course, because of this short comings and he joined in long term course.  He sharpened his logic constantly fighting with the language constraint, consistently reading the prescribed text books, material seeking clarifications slowly, steadily, he improved his knowledge.

He started scoring well, right from the word go, showing his prowess as a champion to other contenders and also causing delight to the teachers.

The way he used to fight against the language barrier was a case study in itself,  how children coming from rural back ground, with regional language as medium of instruction can over come the constraint and stand as a winner.

His passion towards the goal, his interest to seek the correct solution, his perseverance in studying line to line in the text book, his relentless effort to understand the subject analatycally, with the help of the mentors, co students, made him a strong contender for the top rank.

He was obedient to the core, representing the ideal Indian student, respecting the teachers, helping other students in their studies, he has shown a strong character to stay at the top till the last.

One mock test after the other his competency increased and was always among the top three in the academy.

After, the final exam he coukd make it to the top few by scoring a very good total.

I wish him all the best in his future endeavor and I appreciate his valour to fight against all kinds of tough situations. His ability to mould himself to the demands of the situation and this is what makes him a true champion in my view and I reascertain his success story can be a case study showcasing, how a boy from rural back ground without , proper schooling could become a hero just because of his will to do.

                     Signing off

                       Sree
