SUCCES STORY
Hi all,
it is quite absorbing and interesting to see how the people struggle, to move up the ladder and reach the peaks.
It becomes more interesting, when you have an opportunity to watch them from a very close distance, where, every small emotion appears in magnified pixels.
Yes, it is still more exciting, when you are a part of every small leap forward.
Let me narrate you one fascinating story, that inspired me in recent days.
.........................
That was the first day of that summer crash course session, exactly, one year before. I was to
address a class of students appearing for a prestigious All India medical entrance exam.
These students have completed their Class 12 and joined in this crash course of near around thirty days just before exam date.
I entered in to the class room with same enthusiasm, I carry with me everyday. I saw the children, standing up and greeting me. I asked them to take their seats and started of with my lecture.
I briefly explained , how interesting the course would be and also elaborated on the advantages of appearing such a short term course ,although, I must have sounded little harsh, when I explained, why such a short term course would serve the purpose of showing just the tip of the iceberg and not all of it.
I saw this brilliant little girl sitting on the front bench with wide eyes filled with hope and cheerful attitude, sat through out the session listening with rapt attention, taking down the notes gently, intervening only when necessary, asking legitimate doubts, again writing down all that was explained.
The days rolled down, very fast and almost everyday, I would look around to spot her in the class room and go with my lectures as usual.
I found her missing in the class room, one day and I asked a colleague, if, she had attended his class that day.
He said that she was absent as she has to appear health check up.
I was little surprised to note that at that tender age of about 17 or 18 years a health check up necessity would arise and later I learned that she had some severe spinal chord related issue.
This caused
a bit of disappointment, inside my heart ,thinking ,whether ,she would be able to take all the classes and write the exams properly.
To my surprise, despite her health issue, she never missed to sport a smile on her face while the class was going on...
....... The crash course came to completion. These children appeared the exam along with other repeaters. The results came. The Students from repeaters batch in the institute did remarkably well some of them even scored out of out in a subject or two and many of them joined Medical colleges.
The students who attended the crash course couldn't perform to that extent and most of them joined the repeater's program for the following year.
This pretty girl joined along with some others in the repeater's program.
After, the orientation course was over, I called her by her name and enquired about her health. She said she was undergoing treatment and frequent sittings with Doctor is a necessity so as to keep her normal. Also, she was surprised to know, that I remember her name and asked me about the same. I replied saying, "yes,! I remember very few names of my students and her name was one of those few."
She smiled as usual in her way and dispersed to hostel.
---------------------------------
Every class during the repeater's program, she used to sit in the front bench...follow the lessons carefully ,jotting down the notes, radiating brilliant smile all around whenever I used to share a joke or two with the class.
She did all these things ,hiding the pain and probably anxiety too about the uncertainty of how long the medication would be required.
Sometimes, she used to be sleepy, may be due to the medication she has to take and occasionally used to miss the classes due to health check ups and Hospitalization.
It is amazing to see the girl making a comeback every time she was put down by fate in the form of hospitalization.
She took everything in her stride and interact with me in particular and other teachers in general, clarifying doubts, coping up with the chapters she missed because of her bad health.
Somehow the Repeater's program came to close. Children started to write mock tests. She maintained her composure all through despite severe pain she was suffering from. She wrote all most all the mock tests and didn't budge on to the pain. She was steadfast , focused , attentive to the core, doing error analysis after every mock test completion, seeking guidance ,rectifying the mistakes, coping up with health stress and till the time of exams ,she stayed back in the hostel and studied methodically and religiously.
She stands as an epitome of a perfect fighter, fighting against all odds and I used to admire her courage ,wits and composure during that time. I wished and blessed all the children as ,the time for exams came and they all wrote the exam well.
It is a matter of pride, to me personally to have taught her as a teacher and also to the institute as she came out with flying colors scoring and becoming one of the toppers of the class.
Character ,Determination, Will power, Ability to learn, ability to bear the pain, perseverance, patience to acquire knowledge, application , improving the logical thinking, and above all the Confidence on herself and consistent efforts, made her to become one of the toppers in the class.
She continues to inspire me as a "Girl with NEVER SAY DIE ATITTUDE ".
Let me present you ,another success story ,next time , we meet.
Signing off
